We’re looking for a full-time, on-site General Manager with a not for profit organization.Our client, the Ontario Fur Managers Federation (OFMF), is a long-standing organization dedicated to promoting trapping as a sustainable and responsible use of natural resources in Ontario and Canada. Since its incorporation in 1995, the OFMF has maintained a strong partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), delivering programs and services to over 6,000 members. The General Manager will be responsible for leading the OFMF head office in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, managing staff, overseeing program delivery, and ensuring compliance with the Federation’s agreement with the Ontario government.General Manager responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the OFMF head office
  • Manage staff, budgets, and program delivery for a 6,000-member organization
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Government Agreement
  • Promote trapping as a sustainable and humane wildlife management practice
  • Represent the Federation in communications with government and stakeholders
  • Oversee strategic planning, business development, and marketing initiatives
  • Support the delivery of the Trapper Education Program
  • Maintain strong communication with the Executive Board and membership
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and public-facing materials
  • Coordinate and support fundraising and outreach efforts
The successful candidate has:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit, government, or resource management sectors
  • Post-secondary education in business, environmental studies, or a related field (minimum Grade 12 diploma required)
  • Strong communication, administrative, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing staff, budgets, and strategic initiatives
  • Knowledge of wildlife management and sustainable use of furbearers
  • Trapping experience and/or instructor qualifications are considered assets
  • Proficiency in business software and office technology
