Employment Type: Full-TimeOur client is a well-established engineering consultancy supporting complex projects across Canada and international markets. They are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team and contribute to projects in the mining, hydropower, and water infrastructure sectors.This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, provide leadership across geotechnical disciplines, and support clients throughout the full project lifecycle. The position may require domestic and international travel depending on project and client needs.Position OverviewAs a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in delivering geotechnical engineering services for resource and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for technical oversight, project execution, mentoring junior staff, and supporting client relationships.Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical aspects of projects, including scope, budget, and schedule management
- Plan, oversee, and interpret geotechnical site investigations and laboratory testing programs
- Review geological models and establish appropriate geotechnical design parameters
- Perform and review advanced geotechnical analyses, including:
- Slope stability
- Settlement and bearing capacity
- Liquefaction assessments
- Design and evaluate foundations, slopes, retaining structures, excavations, and ground improvement solutions
- Prepare, review, and sign off on geotechnical reports, calculations, and engineering recommendations
- Identify geotechnical risks and propose mitigation and monitoring strategies
- Support construction activities through site visits, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and instrumentation assessment
- Provide technical leadership and peer review of geotechnical deliverables
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to proposal development and client relations
- Bachelor's degree in Geological or Civil Engineering
- A graduate degree specializing in Geotechnical Engineering is considered an asset
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or another Canadian province or territory
- Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience, specifically in mining and/or infrastructure project development
- Strong background in geotechnical design and project management
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Geotechnical investigations and reporting
- Geotechnical analyses and foundation assessments
- Tailings and water management feasibility studies, design, and operational support
- Dam and embankment design, analysis, and monitoring
- Construction material evaluation
- Civil and earthworks construction monitoring
- Preparation of design reports, drawings, and technical specifications
