
Intermediate - Project Engineer / Manager

- Plans and coordinates the engineering activities on projects or serve as an individual expert, completing broadly defined and/or technically complex engineering assignments. In cases where there is no project manager, the Project Engineer owns these accountabilities.
- Interface between Engineering and the other disciplines on the project including Process Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement, Construction, vendors and the client team to ensure the successful completion of projects
- Works closely with TWD’s PMO group to ensure adherence to processes/procedures and to also make recommendations for enhancement of existing processes/procedures
- Ensure that the checking and review of documentation and interdisciplinary coordination is carried out in accordance with the contract requirements and Project Procedures and client standards.
- Manage the process of engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule, budget.
- Monitor progress trends in order to identify threats to project objectives. Proactively lead the development and execution of action plans to mitigate impact to project objectives.
- Ability to communicate appropriately in varying levels of the organization, internally and externally.
- Give presentations to customers, suppliers and internally within the organization
- Investigate client and/or project management grievances at assigned project to determine facts and recommends a solution
- Provide and/or communicate detailed project reports
- Forecast, monitor and manage potential risks that can negatively impact the successful completion of projects.
- Perform quality control and quality analysis of the work (e.g. costs, schedule, plans, etc.) and report/communicate on a weekly basis to necessary stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with extensive experience in an engineering discipline
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is not required but is an asset.
- Background in Refinery or chemical plant experience.
- 5-9 years of field project engineering/project management experience in industrial projects with mulit-discipline exposure. Has dealt with operators and maintenance personnel
- Has FEL1/2/3 experience – understands project process and gated delivery model
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is not required but is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives/projects simultaneously, and effectively communicate goals, objectives and accomplishments to all levels of the organization
- Team player who promotes values of honesty, integrity and ethical behavior
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both co-workers and customers.
- Needs to work with the worker bees but also needs to present to senior levels of the organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Local and willing to go to site frequently (Mississauga)
