- Plan, budget, approve, schedule and coordinate capital projects, installations, plant shutdowns, startups, and general plant and machine maintenance.
- Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and develop and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed established targets.
- Drive and participate in lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, kaizens, value stream mapping, etc..
- Responsible for the supervision of all hourly (unionized) teammates in the department, including the coaching, training, discipline, and scheduling of work.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all teammates, including participation in company health and safety programs, providing instruction on safe operations, personal protective equipment and good housekeeping.
- Responsible for product management of departmental budget, including budget preparation and cost control.
- Maintain inventory including critical spare equipment/parts, equipment documentation for all manufacturing lines and needed maintenance shop supplies.
- Purchasing of parts required for modifications and repairs.
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance program in co-ordination with scheduling and plant management.
- Ensuring company policies, labor and environmental legislation obligations are enforced.
- All other related duties as assigned.

- Five to eight years of experience in a manufacturing/process environment in maintenance, process, plant engineering or manufacturing functions.
- One to three years of managerial / supervisory experience.
- Previous experience supervising unionized teammates; working in a unionized environment.
- Must have demonstrated project/management skills coupled with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a strong planner and well organized, able to handle conflicting priorities, experienced in managing contractors and technical staff.
- Excellent technical knowledge including applicable engineering principles and codes, safety and environmental requirements, and other related legislation.
- Understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements and work procedures.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
- Good computer skills (spreadsheets, CAD, etc.).
- Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical
