
Engineering Technician / Halton Hills Hydro

- Design and prepare cost estimates, contracts, and work order packages for various electricity distribution system projects including overhead, underground (for new, rebuild and subdivisions), new and upgraded service design (residential, commercial, industrial), and obtain all necessary approvals required for construction in accordance with approved standards;
- Construction site inspection to ensure work is done in accordance with our Construction Verification Program per O.Reg. 22/04; Gather and maintain field and office records for permanent records;
- Monitor progress of projects and prepare reports;
- Prepare and provide input in the development of construction standards and material specifications;
- Supply technical and installation specifications to others, including utility personnel, customers, contractors, regulators, road authorities and consultants;
- Prepare Distributed Energy Resource (DER) connection projects including project coordination with customers, preparing documentation and contracts, connection estimates, drawings, and updating utility personnel and regulatory agencies as needed;
- Assist with asset management programs;
- Coordinate and schedule construction of projects with Operations and contractors;
- Prepare annual budgetary estimates;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: Graduate of a 2-year Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technician program; Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the engineering field.
- Professional Association: Must be registered as a Certified Engineering Technician (C. Tech.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with O.A.C.E.T.T. (or be currently registered as an Associate Member);
- Experience: Experience with electrical distribution utility, load management of DER's, electric vehicles is considered an asset. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Proficiency with SpidaCalc, GIS, and SCADA systems will be considered an asset;
- Skills: Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, be adaptive and innovative in their assignments and providing support to team members and customers, and have a strong commitment to safety;
- Other: Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver's license with a good driving record.
