Job #4980 - Our client is a reputable Ottawa-based real estate development and construction company known for its high quality and superior craftsmanship. They are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead and manage the full accounts payable function within their finance team. Reporting to the CFO, the Accounts Payable Manager oversees one AP clerk and ensures accurate processing of invoices and payments, including construction holdback and subcontract payments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and dependable, with strong prioritization and communication skills. You work confidently as a self-starter while collaborating effectively with others, solving problems efficiently, handling confidential information with discretion, and quickly adapting to new systems, processes, and concepts to deliver high-quality results. Main responsibilities include:

Process invoices, issue payments, and manage company expenses
Oversee construction subcontract payments, including holdbacks
Reconcile accounts and verify transactions to maintain accurate financial records
Set up and manage EFT payments within the accounting system
Review and code expenses to the appropriate accounts and cost centers
Coordinate vendor payments, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper documentation is maintained
Reconcile vendor statements and maintain organized accounting records
Monitor and track up-to-date WSIB certificates for trades
Calculate and report sales taxes on paid invoices
Maintain confidentiality and support overall accounting and operational objectives as needed

Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting is preferred
Minimum 6+ years of progressive full-cycle accounts payable experience
Self-starter and able to work well independently
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Previous supervisory experience is an asset
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Previous construction company experience is considered a strong asset
Proficient in Microsoft Office
