Reports To: Store Manager / Operations ManagerThe LCBO Manager/ Buyer is responsible for the overall operation of the LCBO department within Food World Supermarket. This role ensures full compliance with LCBO regulations and AGCO requirements, delivers excellent customer service, manages inventory and staff, and drives sales while maintaining a safe and responsible retail environment.Key ResponsibilitiesBuying & Product ManagementPlan and execute product purchases in compliance with LCBO purchasing programs and guidelinesSelect product assortment based on sales trends, customer demand, and seasonal needsCoordinate with LCBO representatives, vendors, and suppliersManage new product listings, delistings, and seasonal or promotional itemsOperations & ComplianceEnsure full compliance with LCBO, AGCO, and all applicable provincial laws and regulationsMaintain and enforce age verification and responsible sale practicesEnsure accurate documentation, reporting, and record-keeping as required by LCBOConduct regular audits and inspections of the LCBO departmentStaff Management & TrainingRecruit, train, schedule, and supervise LCBO department staffEnsure staff are Smart Serve certified and trained on LCBO policiesProvide ongoing coaching, performance management, and disciplinary action when requiredEnsure proper staffing levels to meet business needsInventory & MerchandisingManage ordering, receiving, pricing, and inventory control in accordance with LCBO standardsMonitor shrinkage, loss prevention, and product rotationEnsure proper merchandising, signage, and product presentationCoordinate returns, damaged goods, and seasonal resetsCustomer Service & SalesDeliver exceptional customer service and product knowledgeHandle customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations professionallyPromote responsible consumption and assist customers with product selectionDrive sales while maintaining compliance with all regulationsFinancial & Administrative DutiesMonitor sales, margins, and departmental performancePrepare reports and documentation required by LCBO and store managementManage cash handling, POS operations, and depositsSupport budgeting and cost-control initiativesHealth, Safety & SecurityMaintain a safe, clean, and secure department environmentEnforce theft prevention and security proceduresRespond appropriately to incidents, refusals of sale, and emergenciesQualifications & RequirementsMinimum 2–3 years of experience in alcohol retail or supervisory/management roleSmart Serve Certification (mandatory)Strong knowledge of LCBO policies, AGCO regulations, and responsible sale lawsProven leadership and people-management skillsExcellent customer service and communication skillsExperience with inventory management and POS systemsFlexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift and move cases of product (up to 40 lbs)Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environmentStrong customer service and communication skillsLeadership ability with a hands-on management styleKnowledge of POS systems and cash handling proceduresAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentFlexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
