  • Employment: Seasonal
  • Hours: Project dependent. Overtime as required.

Job Description:
  • Works with rakes to redistribute the asphalt mix more precisely as it leaves the screed and is ready for rolling.
  • May operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as some equipment.
  • Works as part of the paving crew primarily raking asphalt, shoveling excess asphalt and sweeping up debris.
  • Complete a variety of other general labour assignments such as clean and prepare sites.
  • Spread asphalt using efficient techniques and maintaining a good pace.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.
  • Maintain a clean job site, pick up tools and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
  • Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous movements.
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
  • Required to perform tasks that involve bending and strenuous movements.
  • Consistent work with opportunity for advancement.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience is required.
  • Must be required to alternate duties with operating various machines.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour under adverse field conditions.
  • CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and Ground Disturbance 201 are required.
  • A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.

  • Able to work unsupervised.
  • Able to work well with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A reliable means of transportation is required.
  • Proficient English language skills required.
