Come join our team!We are currently searching for a Facilities, Maintenance and Transportation Technician to join our team!The Facilities, Maintenance and Transportation Technician is responsible for keeping PMRI facilities safe, functional, and presentable through hands‑on maintenance, repairs, and general building upkeep. The primary work location is the Clinic, with additional responsibilities to perform repair or maintenance tasks at the Head Office as required. The role works directly alongside the existing facility maintenance worker to complete day‑to‑day tasks, respond to issues, and maintain operational continuity across both sites.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Clinic Facility (Primary Location):
Head Office Facility (Secondary Location): * Perform hands on maintenance and repair tasks across both facilities, working in tandem with the existing maintenance worker to complete assigned work orders.
  • Carry out a broad range of facility maintenance activities using a generalist, multi‑discipline approach (e.g., basic building systems, equipment, and physical spaces) without requiring trade licensure; identify when specialized contractors are needed and escalate appropriately.
  • Conduct routine inspections and follow‑up on identified issues to ensure timely resolution and prevent recurrence.
  • Apply practical problem‑solving for facility‑related issues, addressing unexpected maintenance needs and ensuring continuity of operations.
  • General building operations and upkeep (e.g., minor fixes, touchups, adjustments, and practical repairs consistent with general maintenance technician roles).
  • Support day‑to‑day facility functionality at both locations by completing repairs, preventative upkeep, and closing out work requests.
  • Cross Site Logistics (As Assigned): transport samples and other items between the Clinic and Head Office in accordance with procedures.
  • General Cleaning & Upkeep (Clinic and Office Areas):
- Floors - swept and damp-mopped.
- Carpets - vacuumed and spot cleaned.
- Furniture, fixtures and equipment dusted.
- Move furniture as required
- Remove obvious finger marks and smudges.
- Spot clean light switches, walls and doors.
- Damp-wipe telephones with germicidal agent.
- Clean and polish glass doors/partitions and any mirrors.
- Disinfect all fixtures and sinks in kitchen and washrooms.
- Remove garbage to designated area for disposal.
- Perform cleaning duties including washrooms, include vacuuming, dusting, garbage removal, sweeping and damp mopping as required.
- Make all necessary repairs that will be requested by your supervisor.
- Place recycling waste in appropriate area.
- Damp-wipe all heaters and ledges.
- Dust all low and high reach areas.
- Damp-wipe tables, chairs, desks and leather sofas.
- Maintenance of the supply room in a orderly fashion.
- General building maintenance including repairs, painting etc..
- Transporting samples and other items between the Clinic and Head Office locations
- Operate the company snow‑plow truck to clear snow from designated clinic areas during winter weather.
- Clear snow and apply salt and ensure safe access to entrances, walkways, and parking areas.
9. Other duties as required.Requirements:
  • Completion of High School
  • Preferred: Certificate or diploma training in construction, building maintenance, facilities operations or a related skilled-trade program.
  • Prior general maintenance or facility repair experience preferred; ability to learn and be trained to perform a broad range of facility upkeep tasks.
  • General computer skills necessary
  • Excellent communication skills including excellent English verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other clinical staff
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of general repairs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods training an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license.
