- Work closely with Sales, Catering, and banquet team
- will serve the on-site group and catering customers in a proactive manner working with the logistics of group room blocks, food and beverage, public meeting space, and billing processes
- Leading BEO meetings including distribution
- Increase Banquet revenues by upselling and doing Catering sales
- Maintain & log all client communications in the system, It is the responsibility of the Conventions Services Manager to keep in touch with clients through phone calls, emails, letters, and personal meetings.
- Attend the weekly Revenue Management, Sales, and Group Pickup Meetings.
- Work closely with the Sales Managers to ensure client satisfaction.
- Responsible for prompt handling (within the business day) of inquiry calls and monitoring the efficient flow of paperwork relative to confirming function details to the client.
- Generate “thank you” notes to clients with prompt follow-up of negative client feedback as necessary.
- Able to conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations.
- Resourceful skills to provide contemporary set-ups, menus, and functions for groups.
- Ability to produce artistic and innovative menus while working closely with the Executive Chef on pricing specialty menus.
- Work closely with the banquet department on operations and event execution, ability to consistently deliver flawless events.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations. Detailed execution of all banquet event orders.
- Monitor group room blocks and pick up, and generate detailed resumes for the operating departments.
- Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups.
- Previous work experience as a hotel Convention Services Manager in a 3-5 star property is required.
- University or College diploma in Hospitality is a definite asset;
- Strong computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, are essential;
- Organized, results-orientated, proven time management skills and ability to work under pressure;
- Proven experience motivating and inspiring a team to achieve strong performance results;
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills;
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment-maintaining composure and objectivity with guests and team members;
- Available to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required, including occasional Manager-On-Duty shifts;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
