- Oversee and coordinate all daily site activities, ensuring work is performed safely and according to schedule.
- Supervise crews, subcontractors, and suppliers on site.
- Plan and organize labour, equipment, and material requirements.
- Maintain a daily site log including activities, safety observations, visitors, inspections, and progress (photos/videos as needed).
- Monitor productivity and adjust work plans to meet project timelines.
- Provide direction and leadership to field staff and subcontractors.
- Coordinate daily and weekly work plans with Project Managers.
- Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Ensure crews have the information, tools, and support needed to perform their work efficiently.
- Enforce health and safety policies and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Identify and mitigate site risks and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections, utility locates, and regulatory requirements.
- Track daily progress and report updates to the Project Manager.
- Assist with schedule updates and short-term planning.
- Support cost control by monitoring labour, equipment, and material usage.
- Liaise with inspectors, consultants, and client representatives on site.
- Maintain a professional and organized job site.
- Assist crews when required and lead by example.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
- 5+ years of experience in construction, preferably in underground infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
- Proven experience as a Site Superintendent or in a similar field leadership role.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and site logistics.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Proficient with basic computer tools (e.g., Microsoft Office); experience with construction software is an asset.
- Self-motivated, hands-on, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license required.
