Closing Date: April 30, 2026Job SummaryAs an integral member of the Toronto General Hospital-Pulmonary Function Lab, the Technical Assistant plays a crucial role by conducting various pulmonary function tests. This position involves working closely with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation.Duties
  • Perform spirometry, gas diffusion tests, and other pulmonary function tests.
  • Perform regular set up and calibration of lab equipment in line with American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society protocol.
  • Instruct patients for testing and adhere to the American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society recommendations.
  • Determine which test do not meet standards and document for physician interpretation.
  • Participate in maintenance of standards through auditing, and reporting.
  • Accurately record and interpret test results.
  • Work with healthcare providers to develop effective treatment plans based on test results.
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. in Human Physiology, Biology, Kinesiology, or student registry eligible for the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT).
  • Knowledge of applicable laboratory policies, procedures, ATS guidelines, protocols and practices.
  • Previous experience working with patients in a hospital or clinic environment preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
