Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week Status: Temporary Full-Time Closing Date: April 30, 2026Job SummaryAs an integral member of the Toronto General Hospital-Pulmonary Function Lab, the Technical Assistant plays a crucial role by conducting various pulmonary function tests. This position involves working closely with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation.Duties
Perform spirometry, gas diffusion tests, and other pulmonary function tests.
Perform regular set up and calibration of lab equipment in line with American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society protocol.
Instruct patients for testing and adhere to the American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society recommendations.
Determine which test do not meet standards and document for physician interpretation.
Participate in maintenance of standards through auditing, and reporting.
Accurately record and interpret test results.
Work with healthcare providers to develop effective treatment plans based on test results.
Qualifications
B.Sc. in Human Physiology, Biology, Kinesiology, or student registry eligible for the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT).
Knowledge of applicable laboratory policies, procedures, ATS guidelines, protocols and practices.
Previous experience working with patients in a hospital or clinic environment preferred.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
