We currently have two opportunities available, both within our Actuarial Student Program.Equitable provides an excellent opportunity for actuaries of all levels to develop a broad skill set and offers them the experience of working on a variety of actuarial topics. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.What you’ll do:Group Actuarial Role:
  • Provide support to financial reporting of all Group Products (Life, AD&D, Health, Dental, STD, and LTD)
  • Analyze experience trends in inforce block and industry studies and communicate actionable information to key stakeholders
  • Provide data and analysis required for various industry studies including trend, drug pooling and expenses
  • Develop and execute monthly monitoring of different aspects of Group Benefits products profitability
  • Model and analyze impact of various financial management and operational initiatives
  • Provide support to drug cost management initiatives
  • Support reinsurance management activities including treaty revisions and settlement calculations
  • Complete experience studies and propose assumption changes.
Individual Pricing Actuarial Role:
  • Assist in the design and pricing of Individual life and health products (including Universal Life, Term, Traditional Par and Critical Illness) under an IFRS 17 basis.
  • Support profitability analysis for all Individual life and health products and recommend product pricing changes as needed to senior management for approval.
  • Support the sales and illustration process.
  • Assist in the development and production of reports for monitoring sales and product experience.
What you’ll bring:
  • A bachelor/master’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or a related field
  • ASA/ACIA preferred
  • Sound computer software knowledge, particularly in MS Excel, SQL and MS Access
  • The ability to work in a multi-tasking environment, and meet deadlines.
  • A strong focus on customer service with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of Group Life and Health products is an asset for the Group role
  • AXIS experience and knowledge of Individual life products are assets for the Individual role
  • A minimum of 2 SOA Exams, and a commitment to complete the FSA/FCIA designation
