- use advanced techniques in laser-plasma physics, high-repetition rate laser systems and laser and radiation safety protocols.
- oversee data collection and analysis, and document quality analysis and quality assurance on methodology/experimental approaches/techniques.
- perform administrative/managerial duties (e.g. budget monitoring, procurement, staff supervision, equipment/ technical support).
- oversee the operations of multiple research facilities (15 TW laser, kHz fs laser, nanosecond lasers), in multiple labs, and may also contribute to experiments at external high-power laser facilities, such as in Quebec. They may be responsible for the maintenance and efficient operation of these local lasers.
- analyze and organize data for publication, and may author or co-author research papers, presentations and/or other publications.
- guide technical staff, students and/or postdoctoral fellows in the lab, and advise on specialized technical procedures or equipment.
- may be involved in the planning of future research, and may be a co-applicant for research funding.
- PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, or related area, with extensive experience with high power laser systems, femtosecond lasers, laser-particle acceleration, and laser-driven x-ray sources, and 3+ years postdoc experience in the research environment or equivalent.
- Knowledge of advanced nuclear engineering technologies.
- Proven communication record through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Hands-on experience maintaining Class 4 laser systems.
