Job Description:We are looking for an experienced and bilingual Vice President or Director of Finance & Adminstration to join a reputable non-profit organization in Ottawa, Ontario. This leadership role requires an experienced, detail-oriented individual with a strong accounting background, exceptional management skills, and the ability to oversee finance, human resources, and administrative operations. If you are passionate about driving financial excellence in a collaborative environment, this position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact.Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of 10 staff members, ensuring smooth accounting operations and administrative processes.
  • Oversee financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting for the organization, providing clear insights to the board.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance financial controls, procedures, and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage banking and treasury functions, ensuring the organization's financial stability and compliance.
  • Present financial reports and insights to the board of directors, effectively communicating complex data.
  • Supervise the financial audit process to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including unionized environments and boards, to support organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in human resources and administrative functions, fostering a positive and productive workplace.
  • Utilize Oracle Financials and other accounting systems to streamline financial operations.
  • Drive the development and execution of budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Requirements:
  • CPA required with at least 7 years of experience in a senior finance and administrative leadership role.
  • Fluency in English and French, with strong communication skills in both languages.
  • Proven experience working in a unionized environment and managing diverse teams.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting within a large organization.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Financials and other accounting software systems.
  • Previous experience collaborating with boards of directors, senior leadership teams and various committee's
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
This is a fully on site role in downtown Ottawa with free parking. This role has a extremely generous benefits plan including a great pension.
