Your role is to work in an engineering leadership capacity and direct a team of engineers on medium to large sized projects. You will be required to design various building and related structures on a range of projects of differing complexity and construction value.Stantec utilizes a team approach to the work – a team made up of the client, operators, stakeholders, and Stantec personnel. This approach leverages the collective experience and expertise of the team to create robust win-win solutions for our clients who come from manufacturing, food & beverage, transit, municipal, and national defense sectors. Some of our project types include new construction and renovation of:Aircraft hangarsFood processing facilitiesWarehousing and distribution centresVehicle maintenance facilities for light rail, heavy rail, bus, fleet, mining, etc.Component manufacturing and assembly facilitiesOther light industrial projectsStaff support facilities for the above facility typesYour Key ResponsibilitiesHands-on energized approach to the structural design of building structures and facilities including calculations and preparation of related documentProfessional maturity to engage in the development of structural systems and preparation of design details through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formatsUtilize BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building’s structural systems and provide markups for junior engineers/designersLead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendorsParticipate in client project requirement meetings and value analysisAssist senior staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedulePreparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documentsParticipate in constructability reviewConduct quality assurance and quality control on own projectsAssist in the development of new standards and specifications for the structural groupWork on multiple projectsYour Capabilities and CredentialsRegistered P. Eng.Thorough knowledge and experience in the application of National Building Code and other relevant design codes and standardsStrong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standardsAdvanced knowledge of seismic design of building structures and structural analysis-design software such as SAP, ETABS, SAFE, RAMGood understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsDemonstrable ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage the Team’s time to meet project budget and schedulePerform on-site field reviews and manage construction administration effectivelySelf-starter with ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtExperience with Revit and AutoCad is preferred.Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with an ability to work either independently or with team members in a multi-disciplinary environmentEducation and ExperienceA Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural concentration; a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.Minimum 10 years of solid North American experience in the structural design of building structures, preferably with significant responsible experience in steel and concrete construction.Experience in construction reviews and report preparation is desirable.Demonstrable experience in leading a team of engineers and technologists.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.   • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 91,800.00 - Max Salary $ 133,100.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
