Our client is seeking a strong Corporate Controller for their growing organization with the following background and skill set: Build the Finance Function Inside a Growing Multi-Entity Operating Group We are hiring an experienced accounting professional to lead and oversee the finance function across our organization. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction or related industries, who has served as a controller for 3-5 years and is comfortable managing full-cycle accounting, payroll, and inter company transactions in a hands-on environment. You will work directly with ownership and alongside our external accountant to strengthen internal financial oversight, improve reporting quality, and ensure efficient management of financial operations across the group, which generates approximately $15M in annual revenue. This is a key leadership role with broad responsibility, direct business exposure, and the opportunity to shape the financial operations of a growing organization.What you will be doing:
This role is designed for an experienced professional who can take immediate ownership of broad accounting and finance responsibilities inside a real operating business. You will oversee core accounting processes across the group, including full oversight of accounting, payroll, and inter company fund transfers, while contributing to reporting, analysis, forecasting, controls, and financial planning. For the right candidate, this role offers a path to expanded responsibilities as the internal finance capability of the group grows.
Financial Accounting and Month-EndOversee day-to-day accounting across multiple entitiesPrepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesComplete monthly bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany reconciliationsOwn the month-end close processPrepare accurate monthly reporting packages for management and ownershipInvestigate variances, unusual balances, and reporting issuesAccounts Payable, Receivable, and Payroll OversightManage accounts payable and receivable processes across the groupMonitor collections, payment timing, and working capital activityOversee payroll processing and related reconciliationsEnsure accounting records are complete, timely, and accurateTax, Compliance, and External Accountant CoordinationPrepare GST and indirect tax working papersMaintain organized year-end files and support schedulesCoordinate with the external accountant for compliance, tax, and year-end requirementsImprove the quality of internal records to reduce external cleanup time and accounting costsManagement Reporting and Finance SupportPrepare monthly management reporting for shareholdersOversee group cash flow reporting and forecastingTrack margins, overhead, and operating performance across business linesLead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisProvide financial insight to support ownership decision-makingControls, Systems, and Process ImprovementStrengthen internal controls, approval processes, and financial disciplineImprove month-end workflows and accounting proceduresImplement more reliable reporting across all entitiesLead the transition from reactive accounting support to stronger proactive internal finance managementWhat you must have:
We are looking for someone who is ambitious, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and ready to take ownership.3 to 5 years of experience as a controller, preferably in the construction industryStrong understanding of reconciliations, month-end, and core financial reportingExperience in full-cycle accounting, multi-entity environments, or public practiceComfortable operating in a hands-on, entrepreneurial business environmentMotivated to contribute to a broader finance leadership roleStrong assets include:CPA designationExperience in construction, trades, project-based, or service-based businessesExposure to intercompany accounting and fund movementsExperience with job costing, inventory flows, or operational finance reportingStrong Excel and accounting systems capabilitySalary/Rate Range: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00Other Information:
