- Lead and mentor department managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee workforce planning, hiring, training, and performance management to ensure team capability and readiness.
- Promote positive labor/management relations, resolving issues and grievances in a timely manner and participating in monthly meetings and collective bargaining as required.
- Identify training needs through a skills matrix and ensure ongoing leadership development to support the facility’s evolving needs.
- Manage and coordinate all plant activities to achieve production targets and deliver products on time with first-time quality.
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, operating procedures, and methods designed to drive efficiency, eliminate problems, and improve product quality.
- Monitor operational KPIs, analyze results, and drive performance improvements across all departments.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles where applicable and remain current with emerging production technologies.
- Support new product introductions and process improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure products meet company and customer quality standards, working closely with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and other teams to resolve workmanship and design issues.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe and compliant workplace.
- Ensure compliance with all labor, environmental, and industry standards.
- Develop and manage plant budgets, review monthly results, and take corrective actions where needed.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource utilization.
- Review and approve capital requests, ensuring sound justification, benefits, and payback analysis before submission for executive approval.
- Provide regular operational updates, including daily and weekly reports, to senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, or related field
- 10+ years in manufacturing operations, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Demonstrated success leading large teams and complex operations in a unionized environment
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, production planning, and quality systems
- ERP and manufacturing software experience
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
