We promote leaders at every level and support our people to follow their passion.We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced distribution operations leader to join our team as an Assistant General Manager (AGM) at our state-of-the-art East Gwillimbury (EG) Distribution Centre. This facility, our first automated perishable DC, is a 1.2 million square foot, multi-temperature operation designed to support Loblaw's world-class distribution network. This role offers the unique chance to be instrumental in the launch and ongoing success of this cutting-edge facility.As the Assistant General Manager, Warehouse Operations, you will play a critical role in overseeing all distribution center activities. You will be responsible for coordinating work across various departments, ensuring a consistent standard of safety, accuracy, and efficiency. A key aspect of this role will be establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the distribution center delivers exceptional customer service.What you will do:
  • Provide exceptional leadership, mentoring and coaching to operations team members by leading and facilitating meetings and providing feedback
  • Working closely with Human Resources to identify education, training and development needs for direct reports relating to performance, career path and succession planning
  • Foster a positive work environment that aligns to our organizational culture and values and participate in culture initiatives that sustain our designed corporate behaviours
  • Conduct daily operations debriefs for Management and Supervisors to ensure warehousing activities are being executed according to plan and identify solutions where problems or gaps may exist
  • Evaluate, monitor, and verify operational performance and address issues in a proactive manner (ie. system maintenance, product management, and operational issues)
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and/or routines are effectively developed, managed and evolve with changing business needs
  • Lead continuous improvement and innovation initiatives, and monitor projects to ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide General Manager with reports and updates on operational activity
  • Drive a safety culture by collaborating with the operations team in the development and maintenance of safety programs to ensure compliance is achieved in all areas including: health and safety, food safety, HACCP and accident/injury reporting
  • Champion exceptional customer service and ensure obligations are met in regards to inbound and outbound deliveries, on-time arrivals and quality standards
  • Partner with the General Manager on financial records with a strong financial aptitude that includes: developing budgets, forecasting and labour planning
What you will need:
  • Post-secondary education (Supply Chain Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business or other related designation) is beneficial, but not mandatory. Practical experience is highly valued.
  • 5 years+ superior leadership experience in a distribution operations
  • Proven track record providing dedicated customer service excellence through strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional team-building ability and a strong people development background
  • Demonstrated ability to model organizational culture behaviors and align business decisions to corporate values
  • Must have excellent decision-making, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong computer systems knowledge (MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems
  • Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
