You will plan work activities, lead safety meetings, and ensure crews are equipped and aligned for the day's work.On site, you will direct operators and labourers, coordinate with subcontractors, and resolve field challenges related to ground conditions, utilities, and weather. You will monitor progress, enforce quality and safety standards, and communicate with project teams and inspectors to keep work on track. Your leadership will be critical in maintaining productivity, developing the crew, and delivering high-quality underground infrastructure safely and efficiently.Responsibilities
Lead and supervise an underground crew performing storm and/or sewer connections and various types of culverts
Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and municipal standards
Promote and enforce all safety policies, ensuring a hazard free work environment
Build, coach, and support the development of crew members
Requirements
3-5 years of experience in underground construction or pipe installation
Valid class 5 driver's license with clean abstract
Proven experience in pipe installation (storm, sanitary, culverts, catch basins)
Working knowledge of underground utilities, trenching, shoring, and safe work procedures
Experience working to municipal standards (Halifax water preferred)
Understanding of safety requirements including confined space, excavation and trenching, and traffic control
Previous experience as a Foreman overseeing underground or civil construction crews
Ability to work at night or extended hours as needed based on project needs
