Brief Description:Our employer is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society. They support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, education, and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values. They are looking for an individual to provide direct counseling and other services and supports to clients, specializing in woman abuse and intimate partner violence. The incumbent may carry other assignments as needed and appropriate and will carry out related activities and administrative tasks as necessary.Job Function:
  • Conduct assessments and provide case management coordination which may include the provision of information, advocacy and referrals to both agency and outside sources such as shelters or legal support programs.
  • Provide individual, family, or group counseling to clients using a range of appropriate methodologies and techniques to best meet client needs.
  • Provide community-based advocacy for access to services such as medical, legal, police departments, support services, therapy, and other related assistance including transportation and/or accompaniment including court and examinations by collaborating with related agencies.
  • Assist survivors by helping them to complete reports, gather information, etc.
  • Develop ongoing referral relationships within the sectors, which intersect with our clients' needs including health, education, legal and other social service agencies.
  • Maintain an understanding of legislation and government prescribed procedures, regulations and standards for JF&CS programs.
  • Adhere to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirement:
  • Masters of Social Work, or equivalent.
  • Registered member of OCSWSSW in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical or related experience required.
  • Fluency in Russian is a requirement for this role and Hebrew is considered an asset.
  • Experience in assessment and client service delivery.
  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific clinical therapeutic interventions such as brief therapy, CBT, ACT, Family Therapy and/or group psychotherapy.
  • Working knowledge of the Child, Youth & Family Services Act (CYFSA) in Ontario.
  • Strong clinical and assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills in client and system advocacy systems.
  • The ability to establish rapport, credibility and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
