Job Description:We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This long-term contract position is ideal for a candidate with a foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and advanced proficiency in Excel. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing billings, accounts receivable, and balance sheet reconciliations while contributing to the overall efficiency of our finance operations.Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process billing invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Record journal entries and maintain detailed financial records.
  • Process and post incoming payments while verifying invoice and payment details.
  • Generate and maintain backup documentation for invoices and financial reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to verify fee structures and update terms as needed.
  • Prepare monthly reports on accounts receivable, including aging reports and delinquent account details.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data and create detailed reports.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including credit reporting agencies and collection services.
Requirements:
  • A college or university degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use complex formulas and data analysis tools.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience, particularly in billing and accounts receivable.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, with PeopleSoft experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Currently pursuing a CPA designation or similar accounting certification (preferred).
