This position is well suited to an operational leader who values being present in the field, leads through safety and consistency, and excels at translating supply chain strategy into reliable, high performance daily execution across multiple warehouse locations.What sets this role apart is the level of influence and ownership it carries. You will shape how operations run across Fort McKay, Mildred Lake, and Town Shop, balancing standardized execution with the flexibility required for the unique Oilsands environment. Leading experienced managers and supervisors, you will drive team engagement, capability development, and accountability, while serving as the primary on site operational contact for customers. With clear strategic direction from senior leadership and the autonomy to solve problems and improve execution, this role offers both meaningful responsibility and the chance to deliver results that truly matter.Job Description:Major Job Functions:Execution of Oilsands Operational Plan (30%)Executes operational standards and plans developed by senior supply chain leadership. Ensures safety and operational compliance across Fort McKay, Mildred Lake, and Town Shop.Workforce Leadership (25%)Leads the Operations Manager and Supervisors, ensuring effective coaching, workforce engagement, and clear accountability.Operational Performance & Safety Management (20%)Oversees daily site performance, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational KPIs.Escalates broader systemic issues to the Head of Supply Chain Operations.Customer Support as On‑Site Operational Contact (15%)Acts as primary site operational liaison for Oilsands customers.Broader strategic or relationship‑level ownership remains with senior leadership.Continuous Improvement Execution (10%)Implements continuous improvement activities directed by the Head of Supply Chain Operations, without owning enterprise standard creation.Education & Experience:Post secondary education in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain (preferred), combined with extensive leadership experience in complex, high risk, or industrial operating environments.Proven experience leading warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, with accountability for safety performance, throughput, accuracy, and customer satisfaction across multiple sites.Strong warehouse and operations leadership capability, including inventory management, stock control, logistics coordination, and consistent application of operating standards.Advanced safety leadership and HS&E management experience, with strong knowledge of Oilsands specific safety frameworks and regulatory requirements.Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop managers and supervisors, driving workforce engagement, capability, and clear accountability.Effective stakeholder and customer relationship management skills, including understanding of customer contracts and service level expectations.Sound decision making and problem-solving skills in high complexity operational environments, including resource allocation, staffing decisions, and process improvements.Working knowledge of supply chain, warehouse, and logistics systems, policies, and procedures aligned with enterprise standards.Experience executing continuous improvement initiatives, using data and operational insight to improve performance and operational reliability.At Finning, we prioritize creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
