This position is core to the Trading desk's ability to deliver trading results. The role will require a high degree of quantitative analytic skills to identify trading opportunities within the PJM, ISO_NE, NYISO, MISO and Ontario markets.This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, on a full-time basis. Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate.A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Delivering fundamental analysis of the eastern markets
- Collaborate with traders on trade ideas and the identification of growth opportunities within the eastern power markets
- Conduct valuation on structured transactions in the power and gas markets
- Build pricing models to evaluate risk on complex structured products, and provide ideas on hedging solutions
- Develop analytical tools to help traders conduct business
- Assist in daily management and administration of structured positions
- Work with cross functional teams (Risk, Settlement and Credit groups) on an ad-hoc basis
- Strong academic track record in a relevant field (Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or Physics) or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to analyze large datasets and understand statistical tests
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, Python, SQL and VBA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make effective decisions under pressure
- Self-motivated, curious individual who is keen to tackle complex open-ended problems
