The Maintenance Manager has attributes of honesty, integrity, compassion, trustworthiness, and is passionate about maintaining a home like environment for all those who come to RHSP. They possess maintenance knowledge and show flexibility to seek out and work with vendors as appropriate. Critical thinking, analytical and decision-making skills, accompanied with excellent ethical standards are essential.Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all maintenance work to properly maintain RHSP
- Planning, procurement, coordination and monitoring of all service contractors, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Identify & resolve maintenance issues
- Liaison with IT contractors as needed
- Schedule, coordinate and ensure organizational adherence with all legislated inspections and standards following best practices
- Joint Health & Safety committee member, taking a lead with applicable training, compliance, fire safety, standards, policy, meetings, and inspections
- Maintain record keeping of all assets and maintenance work
- Develop critical paths, timelines and oversee projects related to building maintenance, ensuring projects and operations fall within capital/operational budgets
- Flexibility to respond to emergent maintenance needs after hours or on weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); post-secondary education in building maintenance, or a related field (preferred)
- Trade certifications (e.g., electrician, plumber, HVAC technician) considered an asset
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial health & safety regulations
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police check (or willingness to get)
- Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Demonstrate empathy, and a commitment to person-centred and family-centered care
- 3-5 yrs experience in building maintenance or facilities management or related role/experience
- Experience communicating with & coordinating contractors/vendors
- Experience in healthcare or hospice environment an asset
- Proven ability to manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs
- Work is performed in the hospice setting
- Potential interactions with hospice visitors and residents and emotional situations
- Requires driving license and reliable vehicle, some driving may be required
- Flexibility to respond to emergent maintenance needs after hours or on weekends
- Requires a commitment to safety, comfort and dignity for residents, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff
