Veterinary ReceptionistLocation: Victoria, BCCentral Victoria Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Reception, Client Services Representative to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in a very important support role for the entire hospital. In this role, you will help our clients and their pets feel welcomed and cared for while coordinating between them and members of the medical team.Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, possess good computer skills (or a willingness to learn), a love of pets and their people, and a positive attitude. Familiarity with cash handling would be considered an asset as well as excellent customer service skills; you will be the first point of contact for our clients walking through the door and the last point of contact as they leave.Schedule: This position is full-time with a rotating schedule. Shifts for this role are 8 hours and may include daytime, evening and weekend work (including some holidays). We are open 7 days per week.Key responsibilities:Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents; greet or acknowledge them upon arrivalAnswer multi-line phone system and direct calls appropriatelyCollect client and pet information for medical recordsCheck emails; respond or redirect messages appropriatelyAdmit and discharge pet patientsProcess insurance claims and payments from clientsGeneral housekeeping duties; cleanliness of work area and common areasKey attributes:Exceptional client service skillsCompassion and nurturing attitudeTake initiative and work independentlyAbility to remain calm in stressful situationsAbility to adapt in changing situationsEfficient in carrying out assignments independentlyTakes initiative to complete tasks throughout the dayWillingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasksA Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Assistant Office Administration (VAOA) program certificate is an assetA love for all companion animals!!Compensation: $17.85 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.
