Lead, Planning and Factory Automation Engineer

- Factory Planning for existing and new plants, including: Plant structure; Layout planning; Logistics requirements; Facility needs; Operations requirements, e.g. shift model; etc.
- Working with LoB, DnA and local teams in the development and maintenance of a robust S&OP process.
- Capacity Planning for the North American network, interfacing S&OP team to align production capacity to demand.
- Support Production network planning for North America under the guidance of Principle Project manager for Factory Planning
- Working with Global counterparts to build and maintain Vistaprint’s knowledge bank of Industry 4.0 technological solutions available in the marketplace. Including Low Cost Collaborative Robots that can work alongside operators; Image recognition and evaluation equipment and techniques; Equipment monitoring sensors (predictive maintenance [vibration, power, temperature monitoring sensors])
- Support IoT initiatives for improved equipment/process monitoring leading to improved decision making within operations.
- Analyzing and optimizing manufacturing KPI’s, processes and flow, applying lean manufacturing principles and value stream mapping
- Supporting feasibility studies, risk analyses, business cases, financial studies for Industry 4.0 projects including automation and Internet of things.
- Travel ~25% with exceptions of up to 40% when new facilities are launched
- Support the Vistaprint mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and management decisions.
- Other duties as required
- Post-Secondary Education in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Mathematics or Equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 - 7 years of manufacturing experience preferably in a lean manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience with short and midterm equipment capacity planning for manufacturing
- Excellent conceptual and analytical competencies
- Experience with Python, C++ and/or SQL a strong asset.
- Experience with automation and/or Internet of Things implementations an asset
- Proven project management and implementation skills
- Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and Process Engineering
- Persuasive presentation skills
- Team player with exceptional communication skill
