- Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with production and sales teams to forecast material requirements based on production schedules and customer orders.
- Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing excess or obsolete stock. Monitor inventory turns and adjust ordering parameters accordingly.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) Administration: Interact with Production Control to ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date. Review and audit BOM's to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices. Review Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) together with Finance and make necessary BOM updates. Prepare & maintain BOM changes request for PRDV Finance's approval. Analyze actual raw inventory cost (component/pkg.) against standard, research and explain variances and report this information periodically or as needed. Coordinate BOM management with all departments.
- Order Placement: Generate purchase orders for raw materials, components, and finished goods based on production plans and inventory levels. Ensure timely and accurate communication with suppliers regarding order requirements.
- Supplier Coordination: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and timely deliveries.
- Material Expediting: Monitor and expedite shipments to ensure timely receipt of materials. Communicate with suppliers to address any delays or issues affecting the supply chain.
- Collaboration with Production Planning: Work closely with production planners to align material availability with production schedules. Adjust plans as needed to accommodate changes in production requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions. Monitor market trends and external factors that may impact the availability or cost of materials.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data related to material usage, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
- Education: Ideally College Diploma in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline. High school diploma with relevant work experience will also be considered.
- Work Experience: a few years of relevant work experience in material planning, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the automotive industry and understanding of automotive parts manufacturing processes can be advantageous.
- ERP System Proficiency: Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, especially those used in the automotive industry, is often preferred.
- Project Management: Experience in project management can be beneficial for coordinating and implementing process improvements within the material planning function.
- Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, handle unexpected disruptions, and make quick decisions is important in the dynamic field of material planning.
