We are looking for a Learning Advisor for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.Role Description
We are seeking a skilled Learning Advisor/Instructional Designer to join a prominent Oil and Gas company's ETRM Refined Products & NGL initiative. This project aims to standardize business processes, streamline data management, and integrate ION RightAngle software. The Learning Advisor/Instructional Designer will be under the guidance of the Organizational Change Management Lead (OCM), who oversees the comprehensive strategy for Communication, Business Readiness, Learning Program, and the successful adoption of new processes and technologies by end-users.The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of educational principles, demonstrate excellent communication abilities, have a history of collaborating with project groups, and be capable of crafting innovative, compelling, and practical learning modules that resonate with our end-users.Responsibilities
  • Develop learning activities, initiatives and plans associated with implementing the ETRM Refined Products & NGLs Project.
  • Complete learning needs assessments.
  • Develop/enhance a detailed learning strategy outlining learning program, activities, and detailed training plan to support project OCM deliverables.
  • Develop learning project elements to meet identified learning needs and design strategy.
  • Follow the company Learning & Development (L&D) processes, standards, and strategies.
  • Align with the organization's Optimization program Learning Strategy for consistent development and roll out of learning materials and aids.
  • Adhere to corporate policy and procedures and incorporate company-wide best practices into training materials, where applicable.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training material and course content.
  • Design content to optimize learning for cross functional staff.
  • Create instructional material for business clients including, but not limited to, course outlines and training presentations, end user training manual, quick reference guides, user manuals, process workflows, online help files and SharePoint content.
  • eLearning training modules, scripts, storyboard development, and online simulations.
  • Work with the Project OCM on the following initiatives:
  • identify and implement standard methodologies and approaches to ensure consistent, high-quality products and services are delivered to clients.
  • business and training needs assessment and gap analysis.
  • facilitate data gathering sessions, interview subject matter experts, and review requirements (and other technical documentation).
Required Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years' experience designing and delivering learning programs.
  • 8+ years of experience in developing technical/business standards, policies, and practices.
  • Proven experience in ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) learning program development would be considered a desirable asset.
  • Undergraduate/bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design or related field would be considered an asset.
  • A certificate in Adult Learning, Instructional Design or related field with equivalent related experience would be considered as asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary learning technologies such as: online learning, gaming and simulation, knowledge capture, validation, integration and transfer, and evaluation.
  • Project and Change Management experience supporting learning programs considered an asset.
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate.
  • Experienced in designing training for technical applications and business workflows.
  • Able to design content to optimize learning for Front, Middle and Back-office teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Proficient with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to manage the development of multiple training materials and have flexibility with Subject Matter Experts' time constraints.
  • Detail oriented and have strong project management skills.
