- Proper machine startup, operation, and shutdown knowledge.
- Operate the distributor safely and efficiently.
- Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to the required work area and emulsion distribution rates.
- Filling asphalt and burner fuel tanks, cleaning and setting spray bars, and cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks.
- Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
- Work with the asphalt paving crew when the distributor is not required.
- Other related construction labour duties as required.
- High School diploma or G.E.D preferred
- Class 5 driver's license required
- Minimum 5-7 years experience within the road construction industry
- Minimum 3-5 years experience operating a Tack Truck is required
- Weather dependent schedule of 24 working days and 4 days off. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable employment standards legislation.
- Ability to work out-of-town and remote locations may be required. Accomodations and Live Out Allowance is applicable in most situations.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
