Assists in resolving complex psychosocial problems. Carries out a variety of casework and counselling methods; consults extensively with hospital staff and community agencies regarding the psychosocial aspects of the patient's situation and participates in the training of Social Work students.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceMasters of Social Work degree (M.S.W.) from an accredited school of Social Work required. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence.Skills And Abilities

Link to Full Job DescriptionAdditional information for applicantsThis social work position is currently located in an outpatient clinic at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in the Out-patient Neuro/Intensive Rehabilitation Program. Social Workers work in team based care. Clients admitted to this program may have sustained a brain injury , experienced other neurological traumas or have a recent limb amputation that impacts their lives both physically and cognitively. Services include short -term counselling related to grief and loss, adjustment to diagnosis and change of health status, support to accessing resources such as housing applications, financial applications and/or other resources. Advance care planning regarding financial management, health care decisions and initial goals of care is part of the social work role. All social workers in hospital are Designated Responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and must investigate, assess and intervene in all matters related to adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect. Social Workers work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Families in matters pertaining to child protection. This position requires current and active registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
