This is a fixed‑term 24‑month role with Deloitte Global (DTTL), ideal for individuals seeking global experience before returning to a role serving their Deloitte firm. Relocation is not required or supported; candidates are expected to work from their current location.What will your typical day look like?The Senior Counsel, Business Solutions is part of the Technology and Business Solutions Group within the Deloitte Global Office of General Counsel (OGC). Led by the General Counsel, Deloitte Global OGC comprises approximately 50 professionals, including lawyers, contract managers, and legal assistants, located in the US and internationally.Deloitte Global OGC operates across four groups: * Technology and Business Solutions

- Disputes, Regulatory, and Employment
- Legal Operations
- Lead negotiator and subject‑matter lead for ecosystem, alliance, and supply‑chain vendors, particularly for technology agreements (cloud, SaaS, outsourcing, data licensing, software licensing, large system implementations, managed services, and related arrangements).
- Advise internal stakeholders (Deloitte executive leaders, service line leaders, procurement, finance, IT, security, and risk teams) on contracting strategy, commercial structures, regulatory and compliance impacts, and optimal risk allocation.
- Collaborate with Business and Procurement, Tax, Finance, Security/Privacy, and other SMEs to identify and remediate contractual and operational risks, including indemnities, liability caps, data protection, audit rights, and business continuity.
- Manage and document exceptions to standard contract terms, obtain required approvals, and ensure alignment with Deloitte governance.
- Leverage technology (including Generative AI and Contract Lifecycle Management tools) to improve legal productivity and effectiveness.
- Stay current on market practices, regulatory developments, and technology trends impacting commercial contracting and vendor risk.
- Participate in occasional travel to meet business stakeholders, alliance and vendor counterparts, or member‑firm legal teams.
- JD or equivalent from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Canada or the United Kingdom.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant legal experience negotiating commercial contracts, with significant experience in technology, cloud, SaaS, outsourcing, licensing, and/or large professional services agreements.
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to achieve business objectives while managing legal and commercial risk.
- Deep understanding of risk allocation, indemnities, liability caps, warranties, data protection and privacy obligations, security, and regulatory/compliance considerations in vendor relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to drive cross‑functional alignment.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, global, matrixed environment.
- Experience working with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) technology.
- Demonstrated experience implementing tools or process improvements that enhance negotiation efficiency and risk management.
- Strong business‑partnering skills and ability to influence decisions across the organization.
