This position is full-time with the Central Woodlands Team.The Harvesting Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Superintendent and will oversee all activities associated with harvesting.The life of a Harvesting Supervisor includes:
- Managing all activities associated with harvesting, including: supervision of logging, road construction, maintenance and deactivation, completion of waste assessments, hazard abatement and productivity audits.
- Planning and delivery of volume to the Canfor Sawmill and other customers.
- Tracking, reporting and root cause analysis of safety, quality, cost, and delivery results.
- Administrative and environmental management activities.
- Preparing budgets and managing costs within your specific responsibilities.
- Participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives and other team projects as requested.
- Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, forestry legislation, Canfor's Environmental Policy, Forestry Principles, and Forestry Management System.
- You will be required to work and form positive relationships with suppliers, First Nations, government agencies and other stakeholders.
- University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or Natural Resource Management
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, project management skills, and an ability to work within a team environment
- Experience across a spectrum of forestry work including cruising, planning, harvesting and silviculture would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies.
- Proficient using a computer, familiar with current technology and forestry applications
- Preference may be given to a candidate who is a Registered Professional Forester and/or a member of the FPBC eligible to write within 2 years.
