
Senior Associate, Systems Engineering

The candidate must be able to work through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions. An understanding of Functional and Allocated baselines in addition to Top-Level and Detailed Level Design approaches is required. Working knowledge of standard system engineering process including: MIL-STD-499, EIA-632, IEEE 1220 or ISO 15288.What will you do:
- System Engineering activities for bids, contracts and products in the military / civilian markets for domestic / international customers ;
- Creation of high-level conceptual designs, innovative, scalable, and adaptive solutions to complex systems;
- Projects involving Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between system components
- Systems studies and analyses;
- Trade studies and engineering budgets (power, weight, design margin, etc.);
- Identification of risks, write risk statements, and prepare risk mitigation strategies;
- Analysis and tracking of baseline changes;
- Estimate work packages;
- Design, implement and execute system test cases. Analyze and evaluate test results;
- Develop technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors. Identify potential suppliers. Monitor supplier performance;
- Scoping and costing specialty efforts;
- Industry engagement and trade studies for refinement of equipment specifications to develop optimal system solutions;
- Preparation of equipment procurement specification;
- Development of test plans to verify and validate requirements;
- Vendor selection criteria and conduct vendor evaluations with established criteria;
- Requirements elicitation and decomposition towards subsystem elements including subcontracted items;
- Requirements derivation and development for subsystem elements;
- Technical subcontract management including management of work scope and compliance of the (subcontractor) supplied solution;
- Development of the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements;
- Production of technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces and installation elements;
- Support test, verification, and validation activities.
- Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

- Knowledge of naval communication systems, including V/UHF systems, SATCOM systems, tactical voice systems
- Knowledge of environmental, EMI/EMC, and certification requirements
- Knowledge of RF antenna performance and co-site interference tools and processes
- Experience working in different operating systems (Windows, Linux, Apple, etc.).
- Working knowledge of IBM DOORS®
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of typical military and IEC standards used for system design and test
- Knowledge of naval and commercial certification standards and processes
- Proficient in MS Office tools
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO SECRET security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
