Job Description:We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our client's team in Vancouver, British Columbia, on a Contract-to-Permanent basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or those with 1 year of accounting experience to develop skills in accounting within the real estate and property industry. The position involves a combination of in-office and remote work, with a supportive team environment that fosters learning and growth.Responsibilities:
  • Process and enter over 100 invoices weekly across multiple projects using accounting software such as Sage 300 and QuickBooks.
  • Accurately code invoices in accordance with detailed job cost structures.
  • Ensure all invoices and cheque requests are approved prior to processing payments.
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve any discrepancies or issues with invoices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and coordinators to address coding and budget-related inquiries.
  • Maintain and update accounts payable and accounts receivable records consistently.
  • Perform banking-related tasks, including cheque deposits and payments at a branch.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly for various companies.
  • Prepare and file monthly and quarterly GST returns along with related journal entries.
  • Assist with year-end preparation, including compiling working paper files under the guidance of the Controller.
Requirements:
  • A diploma or degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, or recent graduates with the ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage 300 and QuickBooks.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to create pivot tables and charts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage high volumes of invoices.
  • Familiarity with GST returns and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with vendors and internal teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
