
Assistant Educator - Casual Supply

- Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month.
- Applies current legislative expectations and professional knowledge to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early childhood Educators (for RECE position).
- Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
- Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
- Provides guidance to assistant teachers, students and volunteers as needed.
- Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
- Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
- Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
- A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
- Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
- Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
