At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.About the PositionThis position is responsible for production chemistry that maintains the high quality and output in the Wet Chemistry digestion lab, including digestion of assay and geochemistry methods.Specific ResponsibilitiesResponsible for Wet Chemistry digestion parameters:Sodium Peroxide and Lithium Metaborate fusions.Assay aqua regia, assay total hotblock/Teflon beaker digests and gold by aqua regia digests.Digestion of specific methods (ASY-SBDIG, ASY-HGDIG, ASY-CUBR, ASY-CN, GEO-CN, Cu leach method etc).Train new staff in digestion parameters listed above.Capable of working independent of supervision, and trouble-shooting as needed.Capable of managing workflow in a time efficient and quality conscious manner.Perform daily calibration of dispensers and as clear understanding of pass/fail criteria.Maintain hotblocks and hotplates temperature logs and as clear understanding of the pass/fail criteria.Routine maintenance of dispensing pumps and equipment.Prepare chemical solutions as of SOP.Follow all Safety Requirement as of company policy.Keep a stock of acids/chemicals in the Digestion room by transporting according to the requirements from the chemicals storage shed.Evaluate new digestion protocols.Provide cleaning of the equipments (Fume hoods, Hot Plates, Hot Blocks, furnaces, balances, ets), lab ware, Digestion Room, cleaning neutralized cyanide wastes on the routine basis.Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesOrganized, highly motivated, detail oriented;Ability to work independently or as a part of the team;Strong analytical and mechanical skills.Capable of managing workflow in a time efficient and quality conscious manner;Ability to troubleshoot as needed;Quality focused individuals;Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal;Ability to work in a fast paced environment.Required QualificationsDiploma in Chemical Science or Technology or a related field preferred;Completion of some post-secondary courses in Chemistry or a related field required;Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field required.Physical DemandsAbility to lift up to 20lbs;Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time throughout the shift;Perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.Our Benefits IncludeAn estimated hourly pay of $22.23 CAD at the time of posting.
