- Builds analytic and design skills.
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Design and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and control systems, starter and variable speed drives controls, standby power, and low tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and instrumentation and control systems) focused on low voltage applications
- Design and specify process instrumentation and control systems for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications
- Take direction from Projects' Managers, Leads and Engineers, and work closely with other discipline Drafters, Designers and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision
- Strictly adhere to AECOM's project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements as required.
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering degree with a specialization in either power or instrumentation, control systems, and system automation
- 2+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of relevant work experience and/or education
- Registered as EIT or eligible for EGBC registration within 6-12 months
- Registered with EGBC as EIT (or P.Eng)
- Experience with municipal water/wastewater applications or light industrial infrastructure
- Experience with motor control and PLC control systems
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit design application software
- Knowledge of power distribution basics, base training in low voltage systems and motor controls
- Knowledge of Communications Standards (Ethernet, Modbus, IEC 61850, etc.) and/or Fieldbuses (RS345, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems (basic knowledge, programming will be consider as bonus)
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code
