-Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
-High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completeness
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
-Experience with dealership management software is an asset
-Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Professional, collaborative approach with the ability to build strong working relationships with our affiliated dealership’s team.As a primary accountant for the affiliated dealership, your responsibilities will include;
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
-Maintain the full general ledger for the affiliated dealership, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
-Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including consolidated financials
-Complete monthly gross margin analysis by department and product line, identifying and explaining variances to management
-Support month-end and year-end close processes
-Prepare regular financial analysis and reporting packages for senior management, including variance explanations, meaningful analysis and key performance indicators
Reconciliations & Payables
-Complete various GL account reconciliations, identifying variances and preparing related entries
-Assist with the accounts payable and account’s receivable function
Audit & Compliance
-Assist with the annual external audit process, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor inquiries
-Ensure accounting practices are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
-Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
Other
-Serve as the primary point of communication between our head office and the affiliated dealership, fostering a collaborative relationship and ensuring alignment on financial matters, reporting expectations, and operational priorities
-Proactively identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, streamline workflows, and drive operational efficiencies, while actively looking for areas to create positive change across the dealership
-Assist with additional accounting duties as assigned by the Controller and CFOIdeal candidates will possess the following:
-CPA designation required, or active enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) with a clear path to completion
-3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ability to manage an accounting function with a high degree of independence
-Experience in a dealership, equipment, automotive, is a strong asset
