Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, you will work closely with an experienced team of engineers and technicians to become part of our dynamic team and perform laboratory and field-testing services. Our team provides conventional and advanced field laboratory testing services for soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete.Your Key ResponsibilitiesConduct various geotechnical construction inspections such as footing and foundation level inspections, drill investigations, test pit inspections, reinforcing steel inspections, proof roll and subgrade inspections, and attend regular construction meetingsComplete geotechnical field-testing activities, including caisson installation, piling supervision, rock anchor testing, observation of deep foundation installation, and piezometer installation and measurementsConduct construction quality control/quality assurance tasks and prepare quality documentsMentor, coach, and train junior technical staff as requiredAssist with field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and asphaltPromote safe work practices for laboratory and field activitiesOperate computerized and digital testing equipmentConcrete field testingCompaction monitoringAsphalt inspectionInspect contractor activityInteract with Materials and Geotechnical Engineers routinelyEnsure laboratory testing equipment is accurate, in good condition, and meets the calibration requirements according to the manufacturer’s recommendationsContinue to improve your technical abilities and certifications within the framework of laboratory areas of practiceOther general field and lab-related dutiesYour Capabilities and CredentialsCurrent registration with New Brunswick and holds designation as C.Tech., C.E.T., or P.Tech.(Eng.)Experience with laboratory soil, concrete, and asphalt testing proceduresExperience managing materials testing and construction field review projectsCCIL Certification for soils, concrete, and asphalt would be an assetWorking knowledge of soil sampling techniques and construction methodologyStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and organizational abilitiesWillingness to be a team player with a strong ability to work independentlyEnergetic team player with a commitment to superior client serviceDemonstrate initiative and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentAble and willing to work away from homeCommitted to upholding and demonstrating a strong focus on Stantec's health and safety cultureCapable of repeatedly lifting 25kg test samplesAbility to work overtime in peak periodsAble to traverse uneven ground will be requiredValid Driver's License is requiredEducation and ExperienceTechnical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of 10 years of experience Possess or be able to obtain a valid New Brunswick driver’s license and access to a personal vehicleField work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather. Some time will be spent in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods.
