This role can be based in our Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver office.The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipalities, as well as select contracting partners and owners, on small to large scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning.   • Process Design Engineering: Successful participation in, and completion of roadway, highway, transit and active transportation projects under the guidance of senior team members
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Oversee or produce design work in an integrated 3D environment that focuses on quality and meets or exceeds company and industry quality standards
  • Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
  • Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals. Applying technical knowledge and coordination skills to solve problems on complex multi-disciplinary projects and act as a technical lead for a defined scope of work
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Client Management: Help senior colleagues manage client relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Post secondary education in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible for registration in Alberta or British Columbia
  • 5-10 years' experience in the transportation sector
  • Experience with construction administration & inspection are considered assets along with experience with new design tools and technologies such as BIM platforms, design programming, visualizations and automation are considered assets.
