Closing Date: Until FilledWest Park Health Care Centre offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Psychologist to join our team.The rehabilitation and complex continuing care services offer a variety of practice settings in which Psychology team members are an integral part of recovery for our patients. The respiratory rehabilitation program is a fully mature clinical, teaching and research program which specializes in pulmonary rehabilitation, long term ventilation and tuberculosis. The Respiratory Rehabilitation Research Program includes masters and doctoral level candidates. Within this Program there is increasing interest in the coexisting challenges of physical and mental health in patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The Long Term Ventilation Service houses the largest in-patient program in Canada. UHN- West Park Healthcare Centre promotes multidisciplinary teams, encourages collaborative care, and fosters excellence.Psychology services at West Park includes practitioners who are credentialed in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology. Psychologists work closely within a consultative model within in the organization to provide holistic care to our patients. Acting as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Psychologist provides assessments, identifies interventions and provides recommendations for patients who have experienced a life altering injury or illness.The Psychologist position is a 0.8FTE.Accountabilities
- Provide patient and family counseling and education.
- Provide clinical assessments and develop recommendations.
- Provide information to staff to support patient care.
- Participate in program development and evaluation activities.
- Provide timely and relevant clinical documentation.
- Participate in advances of practice for the profession, including but not limited to quality improvement and research opportunities.
- Pursue continuous professional development.
- PhD in Psychology
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
- Knowledge of and experience working with rehabilitation, complex continuing care, motor vehicle accident, respiratory and amputee populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Consultation skills.
- Knowledge of behaviour analytic principles preferred.
- Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors.
