The Geriatric Emergency Management Nurse Practitioner (GEM NP) will provide specialized care to emergency patients with geriatric syndromes and frailty with moderate acuity and high complexity needs. As part of a physician-led team, the NP will conduct geriatric assessments, provide interventions, and develop care plans. The NP will collaborate extensively with the interdisciplinary team, community resources and patient caregivers to support discharges, and they will be responsible for following up patient status in the community. We are seeking Nurse Practitioners who have geriatric expertise that can adapt to the dynamic emergency environment. Experience in geriatric care is foundational to this role. Required Qualifications:Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years NP experience with the Geriatric population including Integrated Supportive & Facility Living (ISFL) settings, acute care of the elderly, or others. Competency in geriatric assessment. Evidence to practice both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications:Gerontology Specialty and/or Care of the Older Adult education/certification. Alberta Designated Capacity Assessor. Experience in emergency department environment. Change management experience.
