- Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices.
- Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
- Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
- Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
- Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
- Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
- Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.
- Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
- Preference will be given to those who hold, or are currently enrolled in a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or bachelors degree program in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Holds safety designation.
- 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
- Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
- Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
