Job Description:Robert Half is partnered with a growing construction company who is in search of a Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a full time permanent position located in the Mississauga area. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen understanding of bookkeeping and accounting in the construction industry.Key Responsibilities
  • Process vendor invoices, reconcile statements, and ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier payments while ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
  • Generate and distribute invoices for all projects and services.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables, ensuring timely collections.
  • Prepare, review, and send service-related invoices to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with the service team to ensure accurate billing and prompt issue resolution.
  • Handle weekly payroll for field and office staff, ensuring accuracy in compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Track time entries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Work alongside project managers to review project budgets, handle cost allocations, and track job performance.
  • Provide financial reports and insights to assist in project decision-making.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Reconcile bank statements and assist with audits as needed.
Requirements:Qualifications and Skills
  • A minimum of 2 years' bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Diploma or Certificate in accounting or related highly preferred
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Jonas, Newstar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and payroll tax requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members across departments.
  • Knowledge of construction-specific accounting practices such as job costing is preferred
