- Minimum Grade 12 education. Post-secondary certification or training in building maintenance, trades, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum two (2) year of experience in maintenance operations, preferably in senior living or hospitality.
- Demonstrated experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
- Proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on resident satisfaction.
- Resident-focused with values aligned to Verve Senior Living mission statement.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, security, and life safety.
- Assist in maintaining facility furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
- Ensure grounds and outdoor areas are maintained, including gardening, snow removal, and salting.
- Prepare suites for new move-ins in collaboration with the Marketing team, managing repairs and refurbishments and ensuring accurate billing of damages, if applicable.
- Assist residents with maintenance-related requests and coordinate furniture and equipment moves within the residence.
- Participate in and document fire drills, infection control measures, and pest control strategies.
- Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the residence, proactively addressing and reporting potential hazards.
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining positive relationships with residents, families, team members, suppliers, and visitors.
- Promote a learning environment, embodying the Residence’s core values to exceed residents' expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager or delegate.
- Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Completes all required mandatory training/education.
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Participates in the ongoing Fire Prevention, and Pest Control programs and any other programs as required.
