Primary Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams. Numerical conversions required.
Plan the sequence of tasks and decide how to cut the steel most efficiently.
Determine the materials required and obtain them from stock.
Develop and/or mark patterns if required.
Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, and roll.
Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units.
Fasten components together.
Ability to use welding and fabrication tools.
Quality assurance and control.
Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
Build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
Ensure that the overhead crane is used in a safe manner.

Qualifications

Alberta Journeyman Structural Steel and Plate Fitter Ticket or Red Seal Certification
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
GMAW

Physical Requirements

Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
Weld test required
Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided), PPE required (Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection)
