Your Opportunity:AHS has an exciting opportunity for an Acute Care Manager at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, with responsibility for the leadership of the teams providing care for an Acute Care Medical Unit and Obstetrical Unit as well as management of these program areas. In this position you will support a dynamic healthcare team, and a diverse patient population. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. In this role, you will have accountability for the delivery of high quality, safe, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-centered care in your program area, and for delivering on our portfolio vision of Engaged, Supported, and Valued People. Your effective communication and change management skills, as well as your human resource and budget management skills are essential to being successful in this role. As part of the CenZ Acute Care leadership team, you will support and advance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through strong working relationships, and in collaboration with colleagues, staff, community agencies, and zonal services. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Director, Rural Acute Care, Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, and in partnership with the other local managers, you will provide staff and program leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice, competence as a leader, as well as commitment to the team, and to the overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization.Description:As part of the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre leadership team, the Rural Acute Care Manager is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and program leadership for an Acute Care Medical Unit 43 and Obstetrical Unit. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives. Key areas of responsibility are ensuring the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix etc.), and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff feel engaged, supported, and valued, and can do their best work every day. This could include supporting just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability, and manage and report on the operating budget, including budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. The manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing evolution of high-quality, consistent patient and family centered care. This job requires the individual to be available on a 24/7 basis on occasion and may include early morning or evening hours. Emerging issues, and staff scheduling often require attention outside of regular business hours. This job has multiple, complex competing demands requiring excellent organizational skills. Incumbent may support interim coverage for other managers during vacancies or absences.

Required Qualifications:A post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership, or other comparable degree. Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as appropriate. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development (e.g., continuing education courses). Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster relationships across the organization to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within. Knowledge and understanding of Collective Agreements and collaborating with a unionized workforce. Discretion with sensitive situations, data, and personnel. Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team. Preferred Qualifications:Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues. Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential. Experience in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Strong knowledge of Rural Acute Care and Obstetrics an asset.
