
Environmental Health Program Clerk

- Provide a variety of administrative support to Public Health programs/teams by performing duties such as maintaining a variety of program-specific databases, program files and generating statistics.
- Coordinate, arrange and attend program workshops and meetings, record minutes, take follow-up actions, prepare and process invoices.
- Perform other administrative functions such as operating the switchboard, developing resource displays, prioritizing incoming materials, answering questions and providing information to the public on current programs, as well as composing correspondence, developing reports and spreadsheets, ordering supplies, and updating the information on the departmental website according to established procedures.
- Answer general inquiries related to programs.
- Grade 12.
- Graduation from an Office Administration program supplemented by one (1) year recent, related experience in a complex health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and proficiency in relevant and current software. (Word, Excel, graphic applications, as well as various database applications such as HedgeHog).
- Ability to type 50 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
- Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to compile information.
- Ability to perform relevant calculations.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
