We currently have an opening for a Junior Environmental Scientist - Contaminated Sites in our Edmonton office.You are a junior level scientist motivated to gain valuable experience working on a wide variety of interesting projects and in various settings. You have a genuine interest in soil and water remediation, soil chemistry, field sampling, northern sites, or climate change and are willing to support data entry, report writing and other office-based tasks. You bring a positive and collaborative attitude and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment and independently. Our growing Edmonton office provides many professional development and advancement opportunities for those with an aptitude for consulting.Responsibilities include the following:
  • Conducting soil, surface water, vapour and groundwater quality investigations, and summarizing laboratory results.
  • Providing field services for contaminated site investigations and spill response projects.
  • Completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, including research and interviews.
  • Preparing technical reports for investigations.
  • Liaising with clients, laboratories and contractors.
  • Assisting with proposal preparations.
  • Tracking project budgets.
Job RequirementsWhat you will bring:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years post-graduation contaminated sites experience in environmental consulting, monitoring or applied research, including field experience.
  • Willingness to work in the field in remote locations.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and regulatory requirements surrounding contaminated sites.
  • Self motivated with strong time management and organizational ability.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to follow direction and take initiative.
  • Commitment to quality work.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with a professional organization in Alberta (e.g. P.Ag, P.Geo or P.Chem), is an asset.
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), is an asset.
